I didn’t really make a resolution to lose weight, but I know I need to. For my weight to be a healthy weight, I’d have to grow probably 6 inches. So, since that’s not gonna happen, I have to get rid of the extra weight. I’m not overweight enough for any kind of weight loss surgery so I have to do it the old fashioned way. I’m trying to walk at least 3 times a week for around 45-50 min (that’s usually around 3 miles). I alternate those days with lifting weights. I’m not sure if this is the kind of workout schedule I need, but it’s better than nothing. I’m also trying to drink a lot more water (by the way, how do you do that without having to go to the bathroom every 5 min?). Water is definitely not my beverage of choice, but I know it’s healthier than other types of drinks. I’m also really trying to think before I just mindlessly snack. Most of the time, I snack because I’m bored. Since I work from home, that’s really easy to do because food is always available. I don’t keep a lot of junk food in the house but I have kids so I do have stuff like chips. I just have to stay away from it. I bought a block of sharp cheddar cheese to snack on. Now, I realize it’s high in fat..etc. But it does have nutritional value, unlike chips. And I eat far less of the cheese than I do the chips because it fills me up. So I think it’s a healthier food choice.
Another thing that keeps me from losing weight is my scale. I will weigh myself everyday and get mad if I haven’t lost any weight. I know I shouldn’t weight myself everyday and I’m going to try to start only weighing myself once a week. I have never been able to stick to any kind of diet. So that’s why I’m trying to just watch what I eat and drink more water. Eating has become a hobby for me and it’s not a hobby I want to continue. I just wish it was as easy to lose weight as it is to gain it!
