Color Run!

For my birthday this year, my youngest sister paid for me to do the Color Run with her and my middle sister in Birmingham, AL. It was my 2nd 5K but first Color Run. It was so much fun! It was raining and I was in a tank top and shorts. I was a bit chilly. That’s kind of odd for September in the south. But it was also very welcomed and made the 5K much more enjoyable because it wasn’t steaming hot. We were in one of the next to last wave of runners/walkers. The way it works is that at various intervals, there are color stations set up. When you walk through that station, people on the sides spray a dyed cornstarch powder on you with a large bottle with a nozzle. I always thought it was paint, but it’s actually cornstarch. By the time we were done, we had various colors of blue, pink, green, and yellow on us. And since it was raining, the dye was stuck on our skin more. The have these large blowers that can blow the powder off, but I don’t think it would have helped yesterday though. Most of the powder was caked up. We went back to the hotel we were staying at and had to scrub our skin and hair. Most of it came off, but I still have a bit of green on me LOL.

And in case you were wondering, yes, the dye does come out. My shirt is white again LOL.

  1. What an awesome memory! I’ve never participated in a run before, but this looks like a lot of fun! Congrats for finishing and I agree with some of the others … it would’ve been fun if the shirt could’ve kept it’s color, but then I guess it wouldn’t come out of anything else either πŸ™‚

  2. How fun!! My friend and I were just talking about these yesterday. I’ve been trying to decide a 5k for my daughters and I to run in Nov/Dec and this would be fun. Kudos to you, I’m just getting back into running after a summer hiatus (no treadmill in the RV and too hot outside in SoCal) and today I only did 2.25 miles but I hope to be back to 5k status soon! Thanks for the nudge!

  3. Some friends of ours in UT did The Color Run recently and they said it was awesome. It looks like a lot of fun! Yes, I always thought it was paint too. We have one in Baltimore every year and it’s definitely something I’d like to try in the future.

  4. You are so lucky that you were able to participate! I have tried twice–in Michigan and in Mexico and both sold out! It looks like SO much fun! #jealous.
