Infographic of divorce rates and statistics.
The divorce statistics in the United States are staggering. Nearly half of all married couples will get divorced (first marriages). For subsequent marriages, the divorce rate is even higher. Personally, I think that the number one cause of divorce is lack of communication. Also, some go into marriage thinking it will be easy and that there’s no work involved. I’ve been married for nearly 14 years and I can say that marriage is definitely work. We have had times where I think that we wanted to give up but we kept on trucking and our marriage is stronger now than it was in the earlier years. Most of my friends have been divorced at least once (sometimes twice). I am sure they wonder how I’ve managed to stay with my husband for so long (I’m sure some of them wonder how he’s put up with me for this long LOL). But the answer is simple. We didn’t give up. Even when it seemed like the easiest thing to do. We are each other’s best friends and we spend a lot of quality time together. We talk, about everything. If he upsets me, I let him know. And he does the same with me. I’m not a a marriage expert by any means but this is what has worked for us.
