extreme close up

Since I haven’t had the money to drop on a macro lens, I ordered some filters to give me a similar effect. I am sure I’d be able to get better results with an actual macro lens, but I think these turned out great. Just in case you’re wondering, I have  Nikon D5100.

I have no clue what kind of bug or flower this is. I just thought it looked neat.

Iron Man and Mother’s Day

I finally got to see Iron Man 3 and in 3D nonetheless! Will took me and the kids out to eat the other night and we had no plans on seeing a movie. We walked by the ticket booth just to see what was playing and Trey said “I wanna see Iron Man 3!” So since we didn’t get to see it last weekend like we wanted (it was sold out) we decided to go ahead and see it. I am not that crazy about the theater we went to though. We normally go to the big one about an hour from us, but since we were not anywhere close to that area, we had to go to the less than spectacular theater. The theater size is about half of what Tinseltown is and the screen is about half the size too. The seats are also not as awesome. But the movie was still good though. Trey’s eyes stayed glued to the screen for nearly the whole 2 hours and 15 min that the movie lasted. I think he only went to the bathroom one time.
I would definitely recoommend seeing the movie if you are an Iron Man fan. I love all the comic book movies so of course I am really excited about the new Thor and The Wolverine movies that will be out this year.

Oh and I have pictures from Mother’s Day. We didn’t do a whole lot. Will cooked for me then we went out to a local lake. We had a great time even though we didn’t stay long.

Randomness from my 12 year old daughter today “Mom, can I be a ninja when I grow up?”

I always tell my kids they can be whatever they want to be but I don’t think she’d be well suited as a ninja. She is her mother’s daughter so she has my love for talking and she’s also has as much gracefulness as a bull in a china shop like my sister (sorry, Court, but she does take after you with that haha).  Those two traits would make a surprise attack nearly impossible LOL.

Trey has been informing me about cochlear implants all day.  I think he knows more about them than some adults do.  He has watched one video so many times, he can repeat it verbatim.  I just wish he would be that interested in math. It would make teaching it to him a whole lot easier.

And then this week, Jake, the one in high school is taking state tests. I really really dislike those things. I think that the schools should focus more on actually teaching them things instead of focusing on those tests. I know it’s not the teacher’s choice though. I’m sure they’d like  to work on other things too. But I know they are under pressure for the kids to do well because from my understanding, their jobs depend on it.

They get out of school on the 24th and I know they are looking forward to sleeping late and not having to worry about homework. And I’ll have to be sure to keep the cabinet stocked and find stuff for them to do so they aren’t arguing every 5 minutes. Sounds like fun, huh?

attitude, much?

We were going to try to go see Iron Man 3 today but the showing we wanted to see was sold out. I think they had one at 5:30 but it was only 3:00 and I didn’t want to have to find something to do for 2 hours or so.  They had “XD” tickets on sale for a 4:00 showing but they were $13.00!  The matinee price is $5.25, I think. I am not even sure what XD is but I was not going to pay nearly $8 more per ticket for it.  Theater prices are too high already, if you ask me. Not to mention their concession stand is ridiculously priced too.  We stood in line for about 5 minutes before we decided to just wait and see it some other time. But right before we got out of line, this big, heavy set guy butts in front of us and throws his ticket in the little slot below the booth glass and says “I want you to exchange this ticket for a 3:15 showing because I missed my 2:00 show because I was waiting on popcorn!” She told him that showing was sold out. He then said “Well, I just want a refund then and I want the name and number of the manager too!”  He was very rude and just hateful to the poor girl.  It wasn’t even her fault.  She gave him something to fill out for the refund and he said “I’m gonna take as long to fill this out as it did to get my popcorn.”  He didn’t even care that there were people behind him.  He was an inconsiderate, rude jerk.  I will say that the girl never got an attitude back with him. She just calmly spoke to him and did what he asked.  She’s better than I would have been. I am not a difficult person to get along with. If you’re nice to me, then I’ll be nice to you. But if you come to me with an attitude, I will dish it right back. Which is why I don’t work in customer service LOL
