Not exactly a resolution but….

I didn’t really make a resolution to lose weight, but I know I need to. For my weight to be a healthy weight, I’d have to grow probably 6 inches. So, since that’s not gonna happen, I have to get rid of the extra weight.  I’m not overweight enough for any kind of weight loss surgery so I have to do it the old fashioned way. I’m trying to walk at least 3 times a week for around 45-50 min (that’s usually around 3 miles).  I alternate those days with lifting weights.  I’m not sure if this is the kind of workout schedule I need, but it’s better than nothing.  I’m also trying to drink a lot more water (by the way, how do you do that without having to go to the bathroom every 5 min?). Water is definitely not my beverage of choice, but I know it’s healthier than other types of drinks.  I’m also really trying to think before I just mindlessly snack.  Most of the time, I snack because I’m bored.  Since I work from home, that’s really easy to do because food is always available.  I don’t keep a lot of junk food in the house but I have kids so I do have stuff like chips.  I just have to stay away from it.  I bought a block of sharp cheddar cheese to snack on. Now, I realize it’s high in fat..etc. But it does have nutritional value, unlike chips.  And I eat far less of the cheese than I do the chips because it fills me up.  So I think it’s a healthier food choice.

Another thing that keeps me from losing weight is my scale. I will weigh myself everyday and get mad if I haven’t lost any weight. I know I shouldn’t weight myself everyday and I’m going to try to start only weighing myself once a week. I have never been able to stick to any kind of diet.  So that’s why I’m trying to just watch what I eat and drink more water.  Eating has become a hobby for me and it’s not a hobby I want to continue.  I just wish it was as easy to lose weight as it is to gain it!

  1. water is so important! your body will get used to it eventually and you won’t have to pee so much, and it’s amazing how much of our weight is just bloating that goes away when you’re properly hydrated.

  2. I know what you mean it is really hard to loose weight for m e too! You really need an excersize plan to go along with trying to watch what you eat. That always worked for me when I was Younger. now that I am 70 yrs old its worse then ever to loose anything! I have medical issues and I can’t get around as well as I would like to. I had a total knee replacement in Nov. That helped for my right Knee anyway!I need to find a class for seniors like me and I would really do it when I find it! Good Luck to you Hun.
