London, Prague, Barcelona or Rome — when it comes to packing for a city break, where do you start? Unlike beach escapes where you can throw a few bikinis and a pair of flip flops in a case, city holidays need a carefully considered wardrobe.
The itinerary is more active on a city break than a beach holiday, exploring and experiencing the culture that a city has to offer.
With the wrong clothing, this can be a disaster — blisters and sunburn anyone? Thought not! Daniel Footwear is here to help, so take a look at our essential city break packing checklist before heading away:
My daughter, Rhiannon, had a dance competition in Biloxi(“buh-luh-ksee” not “bi-lox-see”) so we turned it into a road trip and stayed in a nearby town the whole weekend. We even got to take my granddaughter, Kali, with us. She’d never been to the beach so I thought she’d enjoy it. The beaches there are beautiful and clean. They aren’t nearly as crowded as the ones in Florida. The only thing is that since the Mississippi and Pearl Rivers empty into our gulf, the water isn’t a pretty green. It’s not quite as dark as river water, but not clear like the rest of the coast. I don’t care to get into the water anyway, so I just stay on the beach.
There are many casinos close to the beach. I think at one time they had to be on the water, but after Hurricane Katrina, they are allowed to build them so far from the beach. I think that’s why the beaches look so clean now because the casinos aren’t right on the water. There’s also plenty of places to dine. If you like seafood, you’re in luck. Most everywhere on the coast serves seafood. In fact, it would be difficult to find one that doesn’t. And if you go, don’t forget to visit the Biloxi visitor center. It’s beautiful and admission is free. If you’re looking for a nice quiet vacation destination or a quick road trip, then plan a visit to Biloxi. It’s one of my favorite places.

The Broadwater Resort and President Casino were located here but were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. If you are interested in the history of the resort and casino, check out this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_Casino_Broadwater_Resort.

I just realized I hadn’t written a personal post in awhile. So here goes. I went on vacation to see my bestie back in July. Then towards the end of July, my step daughter did something to warrant us to get into an argument with her and ask her to leave. We told her our granddaughter could stay but she couldn’t. Of course, she took my grand daughter with her and has refused to let us see her. I’m upset about that, but I’ve been praying. It’s really all I can do right now.
If you want to know the whole reason we asked her to leave, you can read about it here and here. I’ve tried all I can to help my stepdaughter, but she doesn’t want to change. I can’t have here here doing the things she does and have it affecting my kids. I just hate that she’s using her daughter against us. I’m really bummed about not being able to see her.
But other than that, things are ok around here. So I found a job but I enjoy it.I started going to my cousin’s house and caring for her precious 7 month old. She’s super spoiled, but so cute. I get to sit and hold an adorable baby all day and watch tv LOL. I homeschool my kids, but my 15 yr old needs very little supervision and my 11 yr old likes to do his school work in the late afternoons. So it works for us. Rhiannon decided she wanted to be on the dance competition team this year so this babysitting opportunity was perfect.
My oldest son works for a local drilling company and is gone during the week. He’s home some on the weekends, but he spends a lot of time with his girlfriend (who is just the sweetest girl). He still lives here. Or I guess I should say he still stores his things here and sleeps here. He doesn’t really spend a whole lot of time with us when he’s off work. However, I’m glad that he’s so independent. He works hard and I’m super proud of him.
I love to travel, however, I’ve don’t really have the money to go far. So my travel usually just includes places I can get to in 3 hours or less. One of those places is Natchez, MS. If you’ve never heard of the Natchez Trace and are interested in history, by all means research it. It’s a wonderful place to visit. So far I’ve only been from the part of the trace in Jackson to Natchez. The city of Natchez isn’t very large, but it makes up for it in culture and landscape. Not only are there great places to dine, there’s also wonderful scenery to take in. If you’ve never seen the Mighty Mississippi, you are truly missing out.
